FASHION
Charlotte's sweet and sophisticated style is a product of her personality to a 'T'...Very girlie so lots of pink, modest in cut and always leaving enough to the imagination, which most people argue is why she is the sexiest SATC character. Lace is her friend as well as strapless as these looks offer just the right amount of sex appeal while keeping the "lady" front and center.

If you find yourself identifying to Charlotte, there are some ways that she takes fashion risks that may look just as good on you:

  • Sheer/Lace - When done tastefully, wearing sheer or lace clothing can make you look like a "dream girl" who effortlessly wears such sometimes unforgiving fabrics. Charlotte is the master here.
I think the tricks to pulling off see-through fabric are:
    - choosing to do so in either white or black. Anything else gets into "tramp territory". It looks too young and too "clubby".
    - remembering the moderation rule. Lace trim or a bodice that's sheer above the chest or in the sleeves. Charlotte wouldn't be caught dead in flouncy lace or invisible wrap from clavicle to calf.

  • The belted sweetheart - No one can forget Charlotte's "Elizabeth Taylor" moment in season 6 when she sashays out of her depression over miscarrying with Harry's baby in a hot-pink, strapless, sweetheart neckline, sheath dress, cinched at the waist with a skinny, black, bow belt, hair pulled into a perfect bun and incognito with large-rimmed, round, dark glasses. The scene and what it meant for Charlotte's character and future was unforgettable, so explains my detailed recollection of it, but the fashion was equally as poignant and I think is one of Charlotte's signature looks. If you've been yearning to kick up your look, try strapless with a skinny belt. The outcome is classic. You don't have to confine this pairing to a dress. Wrap a skinny belt around the waist of strapless top that you might wear with a pencil skirt or take it casual with skinny jeans. A strapless top with a peplum bottom works fantastically with a belt as well. A jacket on top can protect your shoulders and tie the whole thing together. Endless possibilities here.
  • Smart accessories - glasses - Try skipping the contact lenses even if you're not just going into the office or watching a movie solo. Wearing specs out with your best in dress adds more than just a dash of spice.
  • Smart accessories - headband - Rocking a headband won't just secure any pesky, fly-away hairs. It's another modest-girl accessory that when worn properly will have you being described as "sexy", "sultry", "intriguing", etc. So, be strategic about head-banding next time. Here are some tips on how to get a classy look with headbands:
    - Keep the headwear simple...light or dark in color, not bold or blingy.
    - The band is all you need...It doesn't have to be adorned with feathers or rhinestones especially for a clean transition from day to night.
HOME
Charlotte's home was as traditional and classic as her fashions. We saw a lot of wallpaper in Charlotte's interior designs which is kind of neat now that wallpaper has come full circle in trend and decorators love the ease of covering walls with pre-printed, and plenty to choose from designs. Charlotte's home could be described as a little boudoir-ish with touches of Victorian. Unlike Miranda's minimalistic approach to decorating, Charlotte would create an exhibit out of any nook.

Here are some ways you can achieve Charlotte's interior design:

  • Long curtains - Drapes that touch the floor or even gather a bit on the floor are very dramatic and Victorian-like.
  • Fresh flowers or quality silk flowers - There was always a consistent, single item centerpiece on Charlotte's tables...a vase with beautiful, full-bloomed flowers of the same type and color. Make sure the blooms of the flowers rest just at the vases opening and you don't have long stems showing.
  • Heavy materials like linen and velour - You may find a velour, wing-backed chair or heavy material draping across a floral-printed foot stool in Charlotte's home. These types of heavy fabrics go along with her traditional theme.
  • A long dining table - For a long time, Charlotte lived alone and then it was just her and Trey, but Charlotte liked her dining room and table to be able to accommodate a full house. This, again, goes along with a traditional house-hold, always prepared to host company.
  • Large area rugs - Area rugs are a great way to break up an open space and bring the room closer together and seem more cozy. A cool way to place an area rug is diagonally instead of perfectly horizontal or vertical.
